Born in the Gard region in 1948, JJV started his professional life in Paris in 1967, applying himself as a graphic designer while also nurturing his career as a painter.

That same year, he joined Isidore Isou’s lettrist group.
He also worked with Mirabelle Dors, president of the Salon de la jeune peinture (Young Painters Group) and founder of the Critical Figuration movement.

He then plunged into a business venture that gave free rein to his talent as a graphic designer and allowed him to work with large industrial groups.
For some years nowJJV  has lived in Juan-les-Pins, where he is scaling back his various professional activities and once again taking up his paintbrush, striking out in a new stylistic direction that satisfies his penchant for eclecticism.

Faithful to his need for independence, free on his self-taught journey, and influenced by years of industry-oriented creativity, his new works reveal that he is developing an innate sense of detail that is rapidly becoming a passion.
