GUSTAV KLIMT : AN IMMERSION IN HIS WORK

GUSTAV KLIMT : AN IMMERSION IN HIS WORK

No need to present Gustav Klimt…an emblematic figure of the Viennese painting scene. The master wearing a blue blouse continues to surprise, with an artwork seating at the junction of modernity and subtle radicalism. His golden artworks in particular are still immensely popular and we cannot count how many magnets of his famous “Baiser” are stuck on people’s fridge.

Therefore, is there still a way to surprise visitors and exhibit the artist’s artworks under a different and new angle?  This is the mission that the “Atelier de Lumieres” decided to take over.

The exhibition was launched in mid-April an old smelting factory located in Paris’s 11th arrondissement. Inside is an astonishing display of Gustav Klimt artwork under the light of 140 projectors. The visitor is no longer passive and is totally immerged amongst a myriad of shapes and colors. The experience is further enhanced by soundtracks from typical Viennese Waltz. This is why Bruno Monier, Director of the exhibition, is referring to an “experience inside the artwork of the artist”.

The exhibition will last for a year and we can easily say that this new concept is already a success. More and more visitors are flocking to the exhibition to live this unique experience. This is a place to be discovered and followed closely…rumors have it that Van Gogh might be the next one to be brought to light…

From April 13 to November 11, 2018.
